CHALLENGE

1984 Battle of Amritsar: We aim to create a timeless, documentary-style series of short videos depicting the events leading up to the June 1984 Battle of Amritsar. The goal is to drive traffic to SikhRI.org, increase overall YouTube subscribers, enhance social media presence, and raise awareness within the Sikh community.

PROCESS

Research: A comprehensive exploration of the 1947 Indian Punjab Partition was necessary to understand the context of the 1984 Battle at Amritsar and its profound impact on the Sikh community leading up to and following the events. This included the initiation of the historical imagery collection process.

It was imperative to ensure that any purchased images were historically accurate, that any public domain images used were relevant and historically accurate, and that any stock images utilized could effectively capture the environmental, social, and emotional aspects of the events. The series was to consist of seven videos retelling the events from June 1st, 1984, to June 7th, 1984, with insights from various politicians, journalists, and writers, some of whom were witnesses to the events.

The Look: After collaborating with the team, I presented a series of style frames designed to capture the intended look and feel of the videos. These frames served as visual references, enabling us to refine and align our creative vision before proceeding with production.
